"Deep Night" is a popular Peking opera tune. It is one of the movements of the Jinghu Suite "Yu Beauty" composed by Wu Hua. The composer rearranged the traditional tune "Deep Night," retaining the structural shape of the traditional tune, and developed the original single "beats and rhythm forms" into a large-scale piece with multiple beats and rhythm forms.
This piece is performed by the famous Chinese instrument master performer Paul Tsao. Tsao was born to an opera family and grew up in an opera troupe. He plays the jinghu with an ease of expression. The melodies he plays are beautiful, clear and vigorous, full, delicate, and rounded, with the rhythm of Peking opera flowing freely between the bow and strings.
