A Sailor’s Surprise: Tick Bite, Setbacks & What’s Next for Us

Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.” That quote couldn’t ring truer for us. We've chosen a path toward freedom, but it’s been a long and challenging journey. In this episode, we reflect on our decision, recap five months of intense boat restoration, and reveal the unexpected obstacle that nearly derailed Onur’s plans.

For the past five months, Onur has worked tirelessly in Maine, preparing our boat for launch, while Luna and I have supported him from Italy. Although the boat is finally ready, circumstances forced us to postpone our launch until spring. Just as Onur prepared to leave the boat for winter, he faced a new challenge—a tick bite scare, leading to a wait for Lyme disease test results.
