Closing manufacturing assets, due to their competitive position or them reaching the end of economic life, is a reality of the current economy. During this process a range of outcomes, from business turnaround to shutting a whole site and selling off the land, must be considered. Other options include mothballing (for restart, sale or delay) and a range of scales of demolition (part or all of a site and to ground level or below). The correct choice is not always clear and can be a complex decision dependant on rapidly changing circumstances - e.g. product markets, redundant equipment value, material prices impacting scrap, legislation. This webinar explores the issues that arise from leaving redundant plant in place and identifies the benefits (safety & financial) of proceeding with the full decommissioning and demolition of genuinely redundant assets as soon as practicable after closure.
