Swami Nityananda Giri, Kriyayoga acharya and author of the book, Kriyayoga- The Science of Life-force answers the question, " Are repetition, japa, and contemplation, artha bhavana come under the yogic practices in general, particularly in Kriyayoga?" The explanation is in the light of Rishi Patanjali's Yogasutras with regards to Iswara Pranidhana. Normally repetition is used in traditions of devotion and contemplation is used in vedantic traditions. But they are also used in yogic traditions though general practitioners in yoga don't follow these in abundance.
Yogasutras, pranava, om, omkara, Ishwara, Ishwara Pranidhana, Mandukya Upanishad.
