20 de julio es el día que simboliza la independencia de Colombia de la colonización española, por lo que esta fecha es la celebración patriótica más importante del país. Aunque se piensa que este fue el inicio de la campaña independentista, la verdad es que es parte de un proceso que empezó a finales del siglo XVIII y finalizó con la disolución de la Gran Colombia en 1830.
