Tools to prepare:
Tweezers, wood board, spatula and glass of water, starch glue, wet towel, craft glue, round nose pliers, nippers, ruler, scissors, double-sided tape, and clear sheet.


Materials to prepare:　*recommend cloth: chirimen, cotton
 15 pieces of 30 mm square cloth (5 pieces×3 colors, for plum and pine)
 3 pieces of 25 mm square cloth (3 pieces for bamboo)
 2 pieces of 8cm×12cm cloth (to cover hagoita base)
 Hagoita draft sheet (down load from the website)
 2 pieces of cardboard 8cm×18cm (for hagoita base, more than 2mm thick recommended)
 Gold thread 30 cm~ (for pine, length depends on the thread )
 Wire 10 cm (wire size 0.5mm thick recommended)
 Cord 150cm~ (for hagoita base, length depends on the base and thickness of the cord)
 2 pieces of 20 mm round base
 4 mm pearl
 Artificial stamens　




What is Tsumami zaiku?

"Tsumami zaiku" is the Japanese traditional craftwork used in the Kanzashi of maiko (geisha aspirants).

"Tsumami" means “to pinch”. It is made by pinching and folding cloth with tweezers like origami paper.

It is the only Japanese traditional craft anyone can enjoy as a hobby.
