This video highlights some of St. Kitts and Nevis Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) expressed through Dance and Music Performance.
St. Kitts and Nevis intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is a rich amalgamation of social behaviors, diverse dialects, mannerisms, customs, religious beliefs, and live traditions inherited from enslaved Africans who were brought from the west coast of Africa to St. Kitts and Nevis by British, Spanish, and French Colonizers to provide free labour for the growing Sugar Industry. The mixture of cultures has become the cultural foundation of Kittitian and Nevisian Society; oral traditions, social practices, festive occasions, rituals, craftsmanship, universal knowledge, and traditional practices.
