Real Or AI? Metalcore Edition

With AI becoming more and more prominent in our lives, I thought it would be fun to take a second to see where we are currently, specifically as it relates to music. Two years ago AI music generators were pretty obviously AI, but they have come a long way in such a short period of time. Do they hold up to songs made by real people? That's for you to decide.

AI music has come such along way, but I definitely don't think it has reached the point to where it keeps up or outshines real musicians. There are limitations to the sounds it offers, sometimes the audio quality doesn't keep up, and it doesn't innovate. It can only create with what it has access to. If you are listening to a real song and an AI song right next to each other, you can usually tell by just how full the mix sounds on the real song.

With that being said, there are a ton of songs that I generated that I would definitely consider bangers and would add to my daily rotation. Does that make me a bad person? I don't think so.

I used a mix of Chatgpt for the lyrics and Suno AI for my songs.

If you are a musician or singer, I would definitely recommend messing with Suno. It could be a great writing or inspiration tool for you. It gives you the option to upload your own music files or vocal tracks. You can also record yourself on your phone and upload it. It will generate a track around what you created. For instance, I have a handful of songs that have sat unfinished for 15 years since the band I was in broke up. Most of them were either demo quality or didn't have vocals recorded. I recorded myself singing along with the demo track on my iPhone and was able to make it sound updated and finished.
