We set sail from the picturesque Emerald Bay on Catalina Island to the vibrant Alamitos Bay Marina in Long Beach. We were lucky enough to have family in Long Beach who were so generous to load us a car so we could source what we needed for our next boat project.
🌟 Christmas Lights on Naples Island:
Our cousin took us on a boat tour of Naples Island to experience the enchanting Christmas lights display. Cruise through the festively adorned canals, immersing yourself in the twinkling lights that transform the waterfront into a winter wonderland. It's a sight you won't want to miss!
⛵ Solar Power Upgrade:
We need more power! We always knew our two 175 watt panels were not going to feed our hunger for electricity, but we were hoping to get to Mexico before we needed to add solar. Oh well, such is boat life. We added two 100 watt panels to the top of our dodger. It's not ideal, but on a small boat it's the best we could do.
🔋 AGM Starter Battery:
The second project we tackle is adding a starter battery. We've been starting our motor off of our lithium house bank, but it's not a good way to do it. So we bought an AGM starter battery for our diesel motor and a DC to DC charger.

We’re Jeni and Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.
