Goodnight | In Memory of Laika | The First Space Dog - Takar Nabam

Goodnight is a fictional period tragedy depicting the event of Laika's life as a cosmonaut and the bond between Laika and Adilya kotovskaya, a contemporary Soviet biologist that aided and trained Laika for its mission to space.

The video shows the immense training Laika had to go through for the Sputnik 2 launch just a month after the Soviet's launch of Sputnik 1, the first satellite launched to space during the space race between the Americans and the Soviet Union. This was always a one way ticket journey as the soviets had not yet perfected a 're-entry procedure'. Ultimately, Laika lost her life from cabin overheating within a short span of 4-7hrs of the launch.
The video also shares the emotional bond that had Adilya kotovskaya developed for the 'experimental animal'.

Yes, Laika did create history and did pave the way for all future human launches, but was her death justified for the nation's competitive greed?
