F-35 Uçaklarına Görünmezlik Sağlayan Türk Mucit Ergün Kırlıkovalı / Yeditepe Üniversitesi

F-35 savaş uçaklarına görünmezlik sağlayan polimerlerin mucidi ve iş insanı Ergün Kırlıkovalı, Yeditepe Üniversitesi’nde düzenlenen “Çığır Açan İşler Tek Fikirle Başlar” başlıklı konferansta öğrencilerle buluştu.

Törenin açılış konuşmasını yapan Yeditepe Üniversitesi Kurucu ve Onursal Başkanı Bedrettin Dalan, öğrencilere şu mesajı verdi: “Tecrübe, hayatınız boyunca yaptığınız bütün hataların toplamıdır. Akıllı insan, kendisinden önce hata yapmış insanların tecrübelerinden de faydalanır.”

Yeni akademik yılın açılış dersi kapsamında gerçekleştirilen etkinlikte Kırlıkovalı, yüksek teknolojiye dayalı malzeme geliştirme süreçlerini, savunma sanayiindeki deneyimlerini ve Ar-Ge’nin sürdürülebilir başarıdaki rolünü anlattı.

Integrated Polymer Industries Inc.’in Kurucusu ve Başkanı olan Kırlıkovalı, B-2 bombardıman uçaklarında geliştirdikleri polimer teknolojilerinin F-35 projesine katılımlarının önünü açtığını belirtti. “Altı aylık yoğun bir çalışma sonucunda, radar görünürlüğünü azaltan elastik özellikli bir prototip malzeme geliştirdik. 2006 yılından bu yana F-35 projesinin tek tedarikçisiyiz.” dedi.

Ar-Ge’nin sürekliliğine dikkat çeken Kırlıkovalı, halen altı yeni malzeme üzerinde çalıştıklarını ve bunlardan üçünün ticarileşme aşamasına yaklaştığını belirterek, “Yeni nesil polimerlerin hem dayanıklılık hem de esneklik bakımından savunma ve uzay sanayiine önemli katkılar sağlayacağını öngörüyoruz.” ifadelerini kullandı.

Konuşmasında inovasyonun sistematik bir süreç olduğunu vurgulayan Kırlıkovalı, fikirlerin uygulanabilir çözümlere dönüşmesi için disiplinler arası çalışma, veri analizi ve tasarım testlerinin önemine değindi.

Turkish Inventor Ergün Kırlıkovalı, Who Developed the Polymers Making F-35 Jets Stealth, Meets with Students at Yeditepe University

Ergün Kırlıkovalı, the inventor and entrepreneur behind the polymers that make F-35 fighter jets stealth, met with students at Yeditepe University during the conference titled “Groundbreaking Innovations Begin with a Single Idea.”

In the opening speech of the ceremony, Yeditepe University Founder and Honorary President Bedrettin Dalan addressed the students, saying:
“May the new academic year at Yeditepe University be beneficial and successful for all of us. Great achievements are gained through experience; and experience is the sum of all the mistakes made throughout life. A wise person learns from the experiences of those who have made mistakes before them.”

As part of the university’s opening lecture for the new academic year, Kırlıkovalı shared insights into advanced material development processes, his experiences in the defense industry, and the role of R&D in achieving sustainable success.

Founder and President of Integrated Polymer Industries Inc., Kırlıkovalı explained that the polymer technologies they developed for B-2 bombers paved the way for their participation in the F-35 project. “After six months of intensive work, we developed a prototype material with elastic properties that reduces radar visibility. We have been the sole supplier for the F-35 project since 2006,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of continuous research and development, Kırlıkovalı stated that they are currently working on six new materials, three of which are close to commercialization, adding: “We foresee that next-generation polymers will make significant contributions to the defense and aerospace industries in terms of both durability and flexibility.”

Emphasizing that innovation is a systematic process, Kırlıkovalı underlined the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, data analysis, and design testing in turning ideas into practical solutions.

In his remarks, Yeditepe University Founder and Honorary President Bedrettin Dalan also wished students and academics a productive year, stressing the importance of fostering a culture of research, innovation, and production.
