The Thomashilfen ThevoTwist Special Needs Stroller/Wheelchairis a unique, stroller-style pediatric folding wheelchair with tilt-in-space, used by children with moderate to complex medical and positioning needs. ThevoTwist is particularly beneficial for children with low muscle tone in the trunk. With ThevoTwist you can position a child for independent function or rest by utilizing the back recline and the tilt-in-space. ThevoTwist is crash tested and approved for safety in transportation. ThevoTwist is school bus ready and comes equipped with front and rear tie-down loops.

What makes ThevoTwist different from comparable pediatric wheelchairs starts with a patented tipping prevention function called the Balance Safety System or BSS®. When you recline the back of ThevoTwist the seat slides forward. This prevents the child's weight from shifting backwards, maintaining their center of gravity. The important postural supports like the pelvic belt remain in position and you rest assured of your child's safety. Unlike any other stroller type wheelchair, ThevoTwist is distinguished by a backrest design consisting of an anatomical shaped spinal column and gently moving parts that respond to a child's natural movements. These moving parts known as the "wings" give the child tactile cues as to how they are sitting, encouraging activation and improving body awareness as they process this sensory input.

ThevoTwist reclines from 90° to 145°. The back reclines using a gas spring mechanism and you can set it at any angle you prefer. The tilt-in-space operates from a lever at the top of the pushing bar allowing you to tilt the seat from -10° to +31°. The seat reverses so you can interact with your child while strolling. ThevoTwist folds with or without the seat on, so you get to choose how you want to load it into the car or van.

ThevoTwist comes in two sizes. Each size grows considerably in seat depth and width. The back height is adjusted through the head rest. The foot rest is also height and angle adjustable, allowing for growth in the lower leg.For additional postural support and positioning many accessories can be used with ThevoTwist. The examples we selected to show you are those that like the unique backrest, encourage movement and upright sitting. They are flexible lateral supports with chest belt, flexible butterfly style anterior chest support, soft pelvic harness and 2 shapes of head support. Cam buckles are pre-installed making it convenient for you to clip and unclip the belts when moving your child in and out of the chair. A special mounting option called the belt bow, can be placed lower on the spinal column of back rest so that chest supports are mounted appropriately at the child's shoulder. There is a tray and many additional shapes, styles, and sizes of positioning accessories available, depending on your child's needs.

ThevoTwist upholstery is breathable and washable. The fabric is designed to help move heat and moisture away from the child's back, keeping him or her cooler and comfortable. ThevoTwist's stylish, non-medical look comes in bright blue or red contrasting with a light grey. You get to choose the color.
