Remember these 4 things for the DBE interview questions !!!

DOT has established a single DBE goal, encompassing both firms owned by women and minority group members.

To be certified as a DBE, a firm must be a small business owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

State certifiers make the determinations based upon:
-resume of principal owners
-financial capacity
-reviews of licenses
-stock ownership
-equipment
-bonding capacity
-work completed,
And of course the....
-on-site visits and personal interviews

The disadvantaged owner(s) should take the time to prepare for the site visit. They should make sure that they are able to fully explain the technical side of their business and how things work.

4 Things to remember is:
-Financials
-Control
-Contract review
-Scope of business

Owners need to be able to demonstrate that they have the knowledge necessary to control the business.
