The Last Sears in California? Sunvalley Mall Location in Concord, California

This is what it looks like to shop inside the last Sears location that will be in California, and only one of the 5 stores that will be left in the history of the storied company once the Burbank location closes later this summer.

There are a few last Craftsman tool chests, a few Kenmore refrigerators, and mostly unopened inventory on the sales floor as this once giant retailer that sold everything, including auto parts, is now holding on to existence.

Sears once had the tallest building in the world when completing the Sears Tower in the 1970's at 1,700 meters high. It is now called the Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois. Sears had locations worldwide and following its merger with Kmart in 2005, the two combined companies had over 3000 locations. Now there are merely a handful of store left of this once dynasty that began in the 1800's as a mail catalog store. In fact, Sears once sold houses from its mail catalog!

Craftsman and Kenmore were amongst some of the best quality and well known appliance and tool names for a long time, and now they have faded and even been sold to other companies.

One of the factors of Sears decline include changing retail dynamics and its inability to flex, especially with online shopping and its dependence on large indoor malls.
