I've never been to this part of TOKYO before | A DAY IN JAPAN

A day in Japan visiting a part of Tokyo that I have never been to before! I can't believe that this is still Tokyo. Exploring the less popular spots of this lively Japanese city is even more exciting because you get to see another, quieter, unseen side of Tokyo culture. We take a trip to find out more about this Tokyo city and authentic Japanese culture.

Ota Ward is the largest of the 23 Wards in Tokyo and despite being the closest to Haneda Airport, a lot less tourists travel here than central Tokyo. Exploring Ota city is perfect thing to add to your itinerary on your Tokyo trip if you are staying close to Haneda airport and are limited with time. It still feels very much like old, traditional Japan and this area has retained its cultural character despite being so close to the airport. It is a must visit if you are looking to experience authentic Japan and don't have time to go outside of Tokyo.

The cafe we visited is called Rengetsu and it used to be an old soba noodle shop but it has been transformed into a modern day machiya. A traditional wooden townhouse that retains its original old Japanese architecture but offers something for both the locals and tourists!
