"A Felszabadulás Dala" is a Hungarian communist song written and composed by Ernő Rossa during Rákosi Mátyás's General Secretaryship of the ruling Hungarian Working People's Party. The song was written in honour of the Red Army which had liberated Hungary from fascism.
[0:04–0:59] The first image used shows Soviet troops entering Budapest in February of 1945, as a part of the Budapest Offensive in the final few months of the German Reich and its allies.
[0:59–1:53] The second image used features the Statue of Liberation monument in Budapest, dedicated to the liberation of the city from fascist rule by the Red Army. The monument was erected in 1947 in memorial to the Soviet (and Romanian) soldiers who helped free the city. The monument has since been altered, with references to the Red Army removed.
—LYRICS—
[I]
Indulj az útra és vissza ne nézz,
Múltad a fájó bús ezer év!
Rád ragyog végre a fényteli nap,
Boldogan, vígan mondd hát a dalt!
[Chorus]
Április négyről szóljon az ének,
Felszabadulva zengje a nép!
Érc torkok harsogva zúgják a szélnek
Felszabadítók hősi nevét!
[II]
Dörgött az ágyú és zúgott a gép,
Vérzett a föld és zengett az ég!
Győzött a szovjetek hős serege,
Századok könnyét így mosta le!
[Chorus]
