This online lesson looks at the power of the House of Godwin in Edward the Confessor's England. It considers the origins of the Godwin family under Godwin of Wessex in the time of Cnut, the importance of Harold Godwinson's Norman Embassy and the rebellion against Tostig Godwinson in 1065. The lesson is intended to last between and hour and an hour and a half depending of the depth of the work undertaken.
This lesson is designed to compliment the Edexcel GCSE History specification Anglo Saxon and Norman England c.1060-1087, but it should be useful to anyone studying this topic.
