At approximately 7:15 p.m., the Bakersfield Fire Department, Bakersfield Police Department, and Hall Ambulance responded to the 2200 block of Brundage Lane for a reported collision involving a sedan and a motorcycle.
According to witnesses, a gray Hyundai SUV struck a male rider on a red motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving its front bumper behind. Three witnesses walking nearby later observed a male attempting to reattach the bumper in a nearby parking lot. The individual then abandoned the vehicle and fled the area on foot.
The motorcycle rider sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported by Hall Ambulance.
Bakersfield police contacted several males seen near the abandoned vehicle to determine if they were involved. After speaking with officers, they were released and determined not to be connected to the collision. Officers also searched the vehicle as part of the investigation.
The Bakersfield Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
