Chakra-vyuha in Mahabharat:
1. Chakra literally means “wheel” and may refer to centers of astral energy in the spine. There is a vast and somewhat complex yogic science dealing with the chakras. Each chakra is associated with a quality of consciousness; an element; a planet; two astrological signs (one as the energy ascends and one as it descends); a sound-vibration a spiritual quality etc. As energy passes through any chakra, the mind is influenced by the qualities of that center.
2. The word Vyuha has different meanings depending on the doctrine of the treatise and the context of its usage:
It may refers to emanation and the manifest power of Lord Vishnu. In Isha Upanishad the word vyuha occurs in śloka 16, and means – 'remove'. Vyūha in the Pāñcarātra Āgama refers to the Vaiśnava doctrine of manifestation. These are earlier to Mahabharat.
Vyūha in the Mahabharata: refers battle formations listed by names:
Ardha-chandra-vyūha ('crescent moon formation')
Chakra-vyūha (also called Padmavyuha) devised by the Kauravas in which Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna, was trapped never to emerge alive. That was a strategic formation of army on the battle field in Hindu mythology. Vishnu during His Avatara as Lord Krishna is believed to have partly taught the technique to his nephew Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna and Subhadra, while he was in his mother’s womb (the concept of embryro-transfers is also part of Mahabharat).
Garbha-vyūha ('womb-shaped formation'),
Makara-vyuha (meaning 'crocodile formation'), adopted by Bhishma in the Kurukshetra War;
At the time of the commencement of the Kurukshetra War, the Pandavas, being aware that Bhishma stood protected by the "makara vyuha" and was ready for battle, adopted the invincible Shyena-vyuha or Garuda Vyuha' or ‘eagle formation' with Bhima leading stationed at the mouth and Arjuna stationed at the neck of the bird-shaped vyuha, and Yudhishthira patrolling the rear.
This is part of Hindu mythological belief is based on cyclically changing Yuga-Dharma
