Audi Sport Quattro S1 Group B Rally Monster, The Legend Lives On! - 5 Cylinder Turbo Sound & Flames

The Audi Sport Quattro S1 legend still lives on, and it's a pleasure to see the mighty Group B car in action at the San Marino Rally Legend. In this video, I have collected some of the best scenes from two competing specimens filmed in 2022 and 2023. The first is that of the Go+Bet Rally Team brought to the race by the Polish crew Olchawski/Bosek. The second car on the Misano Adriatico circuit is driven by Sig Blomqvist, with Robert Jakobsson as navigator. Brief historical note on the monstrous Group B car. The S1 was introduced into racing at the end of 1985 as a further evolution of the Audi Sport Quattro, and for the last cars that raced in 1986, the turbocharged, 5-cylinder in-line engine was capable of developing 441 KW (600hp). With a weight of just 1,090 kg, acceleration was sensational, from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and from 0 to 160 km/h in 8.9 seconds. The only success in the world championship was at the 1985 Sanremo Rally, driven by Walter Röhrl. Halfway through the 1986 season, the FIA decided this category would no longer exist for 1987. The decision was taken following the dramatic accidents involving drivers and spectators in the rallies in Portugal and Corsica. The cars were potent and fast, but they were difficult to control when pushed to the limit, as is customary in this sport. La leggenda della mitica Audi Sport Quattro S1 vive ancora ed è un piacere vedere la potente vettura Gruppo B in azione al Rally Legend di San Marino. In questo video ho raccolto alcune delle migliori scene filmate negli anni 2022 e 2023 di due esemplari in gara. La prima è quella del Go+Bet Rally Team portata in gara dall'equipaggio Polacco Olchawski/Bosek. La seconda vettura in azione sul cicuito di Misano Adriatico è guidata niente meno che da Sig Blomqvist con Robert Jakobsson da fargli da navigatore. Breve cenni storici sulla mostruosa vettura Gruppo B. La S1 è stata introdotta nelle gare alla fine del 1985 come ulteriore evoluzione dell'Audi Sport Quattro e per le ultime vetture che corsero nel 1986 il motore turbo, 5 cilindri in linea, era capace di sviluppare 441 KW, ovvero 600cv. Con un peso di soli 1.090 Kg, l'accelerazione era strepitosa, da 0-100 Km/h in 3,1 e da 0 a 160 Km/h in 8.9 secondi. L'unico successo nel campionato del mondo fu quello al Rally di Sanremo del 1985, guidata da Walter Röhrl. A metà stagione dell'annata 1986, la FIA decise per il 1987 questa categoria non sarebbe più esistita. La decisione venne presa in seguito ai drammatici incidenti che coinvolsero piloti e spettatori nei rally di Portogallo e Corsica. Le auto erano erano molto potenti e veloci, difficilmente controllabili quando spinte al limite come è consuetudine in questo sport.
