BALBASTRE - "A la venue de Noël" (Anne-Isabelle de Parcevaux, organ)

Anne-Isabelle de Parcevaux plays variations on a french traditional Christmas carol "A la venue de Noël", written by Claude-bénigne Balbastre (1724-1799) first Noël of his Première Suite de Noëls (First Book of Christmas Carols).

Claude-Bénigne Balbastre was a French organist, harpsichordist and composer, born in Dijon. He was organist at Saint Roch and Notre-Dame de Paris. He was also harpsichordist at the French royal court in Versailles, and organist at the Chapelle Royale.
He was famous for his Noëls. So many people came every year to Saint Roch at Midnight Mass that the Archbishop of Paris had to prohibit him from playing, because of the noise and the lack of respect of the crowd...
