Yes! Approvals for the E2 visa are happening in Mexico. Most E2 visa interviews happen in Mexico City. The consulate there frequently asks for additional documents after the application has been submitted, so be prepared to follow up with them after you send in the E2 visa documents.

Angie Rupert, founder of Rupert Law, shares three recent 2025 E-2 visa approvals from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. These cases highlight different industries, investment amounts, and states where applicants are now operating.
Approval 1:
A Mexican national previously on a TN visa transitioned to an E-2 after opening an automotive engineering consulting company in South Carolina.
Approval 2:
Another Mexican investor launched an AI consulting company in Texas that analyzes and streamlines sales processes for medium and large companies.
Approval 3:
A third applicant opened a coffee shop in New York City and receiving E-2 approval to operate the business.
Angie notes that Mexico City has recently issued more RFEs (Requests for Evidence), even when applications meet the strict page limit. All three cases required a utility bill for the business, along with various tax and IRS documents depending on the case.
The average interview wait time in Mexico City so far in 2025 has been 10–12 weeks after emailing the application. All three applicants experienced smooth interviews.
Angie encourages anyone—Mexican nationals or investors from any treaty country—who is interested in the E-2 visa to reach out for guidance.
