Explore the abandoned Almanzora Country Club in Cuevas del Almanzora, Almería, a development built by the same promoter as Mazarrón Country Club — and now largely gone, with only farming land and a garden centre where show houses once stood.
Originally planned for 1,500 homes on “suelo no urbanizable” (land not designated for development), the project was ordered stopped by the courts due to legal issues.
Eurohouse / Huma Mediterráneo promoted the site. In 2005-2009 there were criminal proceedings under Spain’s planning law (for illegal building) against several promoters, architects, and authorities linked with Almanzora Country Club.
Many houses were demolished or removed, show homes converted to a garden centre, and the land reverts (largely) to agricultural/farming use. (Check local records for exact status.)
This video tells the full story — from the optimism of buyers, legal battles, to the present day reality of what remains.
If you're drawn to stories of abandoned resorts, failed developments, or Spanish property law & ex‐pat risks, this one’s for you.
