Jitte" (十手)
The kanji is read as "jū te." The reason it's commonly called "Jitte" comes down to a few things that happen with Japanese pronunciation:
Sound Shift: Sometimes, when a "u" sound is followed by certain consonants (like the "t" in "te"), it can become less pronounced or even drop off in casual speech. This can lead to "jūte" sounding more like "jitte."
