Swapping Your NitroAir Nitrogen Bottle the Right Way

We’re out in the heat of Texas chasing squirrels in the trees with Chris Cook—they’re trying to stay cool, and so are we. It came time for a quick NitroAir nitrogen air bottle swap on my Umarex Komplete pellet rifle. If you’re new to this, let me walk you through how to replace an almost empty nitrogen cartridge.

Step 1: Degas the Rifle
First things first—always degas your airgun before removing the bottle. There’s a little degas screw you’ll find on the bottom of the rifle. Turn it gently, let the air bleed out completely, then tighten it back up before moving on. Trust me—you don’t want to skip this or you'll get a surprise when the air blows out!

Step 2: Remove the Bottle—The Right Way
Now here’s a key tip: don’t grab the barrel when you're unscrewing the nitrogen bottle. Keep your hand on the main body of the gun near the bottle. Torquing the barrel can shift your point of impact because of all the leverage from barrel to stock. It might not seem like much, but it makes a big difference in accuracy.

Step 3: Swap, Lube, and Go
Once off, take your new bottle, apply a bit of non petroleum oil or grease to the threads and screw it on smoothly until you can't tighten it any more. That’s it—you’re ready to hit the woods again.
