The Power of Example: Applying the Philosophy of Forrest Landry to Education

Looking deeply into educational practices, we can see systemic cognitive-perception capacities active in learning that the pedagogies depend on. The philosopher, Forrest Landry, sets out a systemic view of reality (ontology; what is) what can be observed to operate as set in the perceptions of learners. Once we know what ‘moves’ perception passes through on track through analytic phases towards a creative expression, we can better scaffold this. Drawing examples from Literature studies, Landry’s axiom 2 is seen to be fundamental in progressive intellectual development up to undergraduate level and beyond.

**Correction: when I give an example from Ska music, I give a very UK perspective which does not cover the full origins of Ska music and mostly expresses something about what happens when it hits UK cities.
