As both a physician and a scientist, Hesham Sadek, MD, PhD, bridges the gap between research and clinical care by bringing therapies to patients.
When his son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that can cause heart failure, he found his passion. His dual-role as a physician-scientist allowed him to challenge assumptions, push for new treatments and see how research can save lives.
As chief of the Division of Cardiology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and director of the Sarver Heart Center, he is helping accelerate discoveries to bring clinical trials to patients through the U of A Health Sciences partnership with Banner Health.
