1979 Yamaha RD400 Daytona Special Spec II Exhaust Refinishing With VHT Header Paint -- BIG SURPRISE!

This two-stroke 1979 Yamaha RD400D Daytona Special is an incredible bike with less than 2500 original miles, but gas coming out of the carb overflow tubes onto the Spec II expansion chambers has wrecked the factory paint on them.

Out of COVID quarantine boredom we decided to strip to the paint and try re-painting them with black VHT header paint to match what it originally looked like, but found out that the raw metal underneath looked pretty darn awesome too! With that we decided to strip them completely and refinish them with VHT's header clear coat. Please keep in mind this is not supposed to be a forever finish for the expansion chambers on this two-stroke beast. This is a good way to temporarily protect the pipes and see if the raw finish is something we would like to keep. Eventually the exhaust will be professionally ceramic coated.
