Chinese brand MG is trying to stem falling sales by rapidly plugging gaps in its range. The latest filler is the Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Kluger and Nissan Pathfinder-rivalling three-row QS which starts from $46,990, drive-away.
With a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and near five-metre length, the QS — known as the Roewe RX9 in China — packs a lot in for the price. We drove the top-spec Essence trim at $50,990 on-the-road which builds on that with a premium sound system, all-wheel drive, adaptive dampers and ventilated seats.
Lots of kit is one thing, but as road test editor John Law finds, rushing a vehicle to market often makes for an unfinished, hollow experience…
