Woodturning Segmented Bowl with CNC Carving

I made this video to show how I build a segmented bowl. I use a
sled I made from plans of the Wedgie Sled downloaded from the Segeasy site.
I then use the 4th axis I made a few years ago.
I do the cnc machine work starting with a 1/4 inch ball nose then I use a 1/8 ball nose finishing with a 1/16 diameter ball nose end mill.
I have been turning for many years. I worked as a wood patternmaker but the things we turned needed to be very precise and leave no room for creative turning. They needed to match a drawing.
I now find it very relaxing to watch the shape develop and make small changes as I turn letting the grain and features help design the finished piece.
I enjoy making segmented type turnings but I also have found a new passion in turning. Live edge turnings.
I was inspired by a fine wood turner who lives in Canada and produces great videos which are very soothing to watch.
