Music that I feel in my whole body, stuff that makes my eyes roll back in my head and puts a grin on my face on the dancefloor. 💡 What sparked your interest in digging/collecting music? Was it a person, experience, or specific moment?
I got super into dance music as a young adult, all thanks to the wonderful scene in Leeds and the countless amazingly talented DJs here playing great music :) I had a regrettable EDM phase as a kid that I wanna say sparked some sort of electronic music love… but idk. Really it was punk, emo, and indie rock that got me into digging obscure music rabbit holes as a teenager! I started going out to very student-centric parties playing mostly garage, where the crowds were often very hyper-masculine & standoffish. But just hearing that music on soundsystems was enough to give me the bug, and I started seeking out parties with more interesting music and much nicer crowds. The queer party + underground dance scenes in Leeds are fantastic & inspiringly resilient despite a lot of struggle. I would not be DJing at all without all the lovely people I’ve met here!

🎚️ Tell us about any parties, events, collectives or labels that have inspired you
Tooooo many to count across Leeds, Manchester and beyond :) Party-wise I have been very inspired by: Love Muscle, Rat Party, Lick Quid Gold, Subdub, Stretchy Dance Supply, Sunday Club, Shake It!, Pleasuredome, Cosmic Slop, Azúcar, Dreamland, Green Beat Grooves, License to Jungle, Flying Colours, Triptych, Chameleon, PleasureMaxxx, Gbosa & Slut Drop. All these parties/collectives really helped expand my musical horizons as my love for dance music grew, and are also generally just warm welcoming environments! My most beloved and influential party spaces have been: Wire, Wharf Chambers, The White Hotel, Hope House, Sable Studio, and The Old Red Bus Station ❤️❤️ Some of my favourite labels include: SLINK, Kindergarten Records, Dream Land Records, DMZ, Underground Resistance, Hyperdub, MARICAS Records, Kalahari Oyster Cult, ZamZam Sounds, Illegal Afters Tracks, Nervous Horizon, Hessle Audio, All Centre, Grid, Teklife, Trekkie Trax, and Livity Sound. Sorry for the long lists… I like lots of stuff :))

🪩 Tell us about your approach to digging, where do you find your music?
When I first started out I was very much a Bandcamp head! While I think it can be an amazing tool and so much of the best music coming out right now is there, it is very time period-limiting + can often take you down the same old paths. Recently, I’ve been pushing myself much more to use Discogs, game my YouTube algorithm, follow lots of different labels, and search through physical record stores (I’ve found some gems in Holding Patterns, The Vinyl Whistle, and Hyde Park Book Club, and I hear great things about Tribe but somehow have yet to go!). Ultimately I wanna be combining lots of great music from different decades/points in dance music history, and I think most of my favourite DJs try to do this too :) Radio shows and online mixes from your favourite DJs are also great starting points!
