Roof of the World | Unbelievable Beauty of Pakistan
Deosai is the world’s second highest plateau after Tibet, located in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It lies at an average elevation of 4,114 meters (13,497 ft) above sea level and spreads over 3,000 square kilometers. Known as “The Land of Giants”, Deosai remains snow-covered for almost 8 months of the year, while during summer it transforms into lush green plains with countless wildflowers.
Deosai National Park was established in 1993 to protect the endangered Himalayan brown bear. Today, it is also home to ibex, red fox, snow leopard, golden marmot, and many rare migratory birds. With its vast plains, alpine lakes like Sheosar Lake, and unspoiled natural beauty, Deosai is truly one of Pakistan’s most unique and magical places.
