This video is part of my Best Bits series, where I take a segment of a longer full tutorial and clip it so that you can easily find the instruction on a particular skill.
In this clip I am demonstrating how to add vertical card slots to your bag lining. The clip is taken from my tutorial on The Unagi Asymmetrical Clutch: • The Unagi Asymmetrical Clutch by Sincerely...
The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the techniques I used to add card slots to this pattern more than provide universal measurements, so please consider that values given are a guide only.
To figure out the measurements for adding 3 vertical card slots, measure the height and width
of your lining pattern piece at the maximum point and use the following as a rough guide:
Cut a card slot piece measuring: (MAX HEIGHT + 6”) x 7 ⅞”
Cut TWO side panel pieces, each measuring: HEIGHT x [(MAX WIDTH - 6”) / 2]
Metric Conversion (approximate): 6" = 15.2cm, 7 ⅞" = 20cm
My preferred material for card slots is quilting cotton, interfaced with Pellon p44f non-woven interfacing.

It is important to me that the information I provide is readily available to everyone, which is why I have chosen to continue to provide my patterns and tutorials for free to anyone who wishes to access them. However, I have been getting more requests regarding sending additional support to OKSew so while never expected, it is now possible to send a one time gift directly to me via Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/oksew
