I never ever thought I would be on Tiktok. “This would be the last app I would download.” I said to myself. But when I heard some friends of mine do choir things on Tiktok I thought.. why not? Now I love the app and the people I’m harmonizing with!! Sobrang grateful ako that because of Tiktok I got to sing with koristas na di ko pa namemeet and I got to discover their amazing talents as well! Thank you Lord above all!

For this episode I’m also featuring a dear friend of mine whom I also met because of Tiktok, none other than Mr. Ronnie Villaruel Abarquez.

Ronnie earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music – Major in Voice at the University of Santo Tomas, Conservatory of Music.
He handled choirs of different organizations, corporations, and government agencies, among those are Nestle Philippines, Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing, Inc. (PMPMI), Bank of the Philippine Island Music Matrix (BPI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Power Corporation (NPC) or NAPOCOR Chorale, and Globe telecom’s Globe Voices @ Work. He was chosen to be one of the pioneer member of the Asian Youth Choir (AYC) in Nigata, Japan in 1994.

In 2001, he is chosen to be the member of the San Miguel Master Chorale, the first professional choir in the Philippines established by San Miguel Foundation for the Performing Arts headed by the Philippine National artist for music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

Under his baton, he led the Kammerchor Manila claimed the major awards in the 2nd International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition in Linz, Austria. They brought home the Category Winner in the Mixed Chamber Choir Category, Silver Diploma in the Sacred Category, and a special prize for an Outstanding Interpretation of the competition’s chorale piece, Pamugun.

He is the founder and choir master of Quorista, a resident church choir of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Alabang Hills, Muntinlupa City who won the Top Prizes for Sacred and Folkloric Categories, Gold Medal for the Open Category and Finalist for the Grand Prix Round at the recently concluded 4th Cantata Macau International Choir Festival and Competition last November 8-10, 2019 in Macau, China.

Sir Arnel used to be a member of various church/university choirs like, UPSA & UP Kasarinlan, UPCYM, UP CRL, Singers Harmonics & The New Covenant Singers. He is now part-time conductor, choral arranger and teaches at the IHM Dept of the Batangas State University. He is an music team leader under the Worship Ministry of the Greenhills Christian Fellowship Batangas City.
