2) New parts needed: New shock aborber, if needed, cotter pins (wheel axle, brake mounts).
3) If your strut has a Teflon-coated bearing, do not grease it, as Teflon has a habit of clogging up and ruining the bearing.
4) Torque Settings: Upper and lower shock absorber nut and bolt: 64 Nm, torque link bolt: 30 Nm (UK 1992 – 1995, US 1992 – 1996), 23 Nm (UK from 1996 to …, US from 1997 to …), caliper bracket mounting bolts: 35 Nm (UK 1992 – 1997, all US models), 40 Nm (UK from 1998 to …), rear axle nut: 105 Nm.
5) Chain slack: 30 – 40 mm
6) The above torque and chain slack information is taken from the Haynes Service & Repair Manual: "Yamaha XJ600S (Diversion, Seca II) & XJ600N '92 to '03" (ISBN: 9 781844 251902). Please check all information with that in your workshop manual or repair manual. Things change over the years and manufacturers do not communicate this publicly. Also, different values may apply to your model and/or year of manufacture. Inform yourself in this regard!
