‘A coward and a viper’ – is Rupert Lowe right about Farage? | The Daily T

It's been a day of contrasting fortunes for Nigel Farage and Reform.

The Daily Telegraph today revealed analysis that demonstrated how, if the recent local election results were repeated at the next general election, Reform would win 81 out of the 145 seats that voted, wiping out Labour and ousting a whole host of political big-hitters including the Energy Secretary Ed Milliband, the shadow chancellor Mel Stride and the Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

Yet, Farage would barely have had time to pop the champagne after that polling news when former Reform MP Rupert Lowe released a statement announcing that the CPS would not be taking action against him over alleged threats towards Reform chairman Zia Yusuf. In his letter full of stinging criticism aimed at the Reform leader, Lowe went on to call Farage a "coward and a viper" whose penchant for "crushing dissent" means that he "must never be Prime Minister".

With Lowe hinting at a potential new political party, will his brutal criticism of Farage's character hurt Reform's chances, just as the party seemed to have built up a head of steam?

Camilla and Kamal are joined in the studio by Sir Edward Leigh, veteran Tory MP and father of the house, who says that Farage "does have a history of falling out with everybody who comes too close to him or threatens him" but is doubtful that it will dent his popularity.
