Having a series of trails less than a half an hour south of our house is amazing! Since I'd be running alone and wanted to do a minor shakedown on the gold D2 I decided to try the Windmill Loop for my first trail in the area. I used the Funtreks "Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails" book and downloaded the route from the Funtreks website to use in Gaia GPS. The trail is very scenic and except for a couple spots extremely easy to run. I'd recommend running off road tires with a modest lift to avoid any damage or difficulty on the trail.
