Level crossing located next to Trimley Railway Station down a small residential single-track road on the outskirts of the port town of Felixstowe on the coast in Suffolk. This level crossing has two full-length barriers which cover the entire width of road on each side, and these, as well as the sounder of one of the alarms here (that one closest to the footbridge) have been replaced since I previously visited here around 18 months prior to this occasion. Two, of the 5 warning lights (wigwags) in total, are thin due to the lack of space here, and in one corner of this level crossing you'll find a fairly unique set-up where a normally-oriented wigwag is fitted above a thin one.
Two lowerings are featured in this video, one taken from each side. The second lowering of the two lasted for over EIGHT minutes for just one train! As much as 5 and a half minutes have been cut from this video, where it would, at first glance at least, seem very puzzling why the barriers were lowered for such a long time before the train showed (given that the train was only emerging from the branch line towards the port's northern end with nothing else in the area). This caused quite a lot of traffic to build up here, especially given that this is a fairly small no-through road.
Thanks for watching!
