MRI Safety: Dr. Emanuel Kanal Explains The Kanal Method and Gives MagnetVision App Update/Demo

In this episode of the Zone 3 podcast, hosts Robert and Reggie sit down with Dr. Emanuel Kanal, a MR safety expert, educator, and renowned Radiologist from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kanal has been dedicating his blood, sweat, and tears to the topic of MRI safety since 1984 and spends this episode of Zone 3 Podcast explaining the limitations with the traditional approach to MR safety practices and explains an alternative method, which has grown to become known as The Kanal Method.

The Kanal Method, developed and taught by Dr. Emanuel Kanal, is a scientific-methodical way to standardize the process of evaluating the risk of performing an MRI exam by assessing each potential risk independently of each other and how it applies to that specific patient and their implants. This evaluation is made extremely easy with Dr. Kanal’s MRI safety App, MagnetVision.

The MagnetVision app is a 3D MR environment simulator that produces a detailed interactive way of visualizing the relative field exposure risks of performing the anticipated MR exam in the selected MR scanner being modeled. This provides precise feedback and even quantifies the exposure levels to the various energies/fields used in the MR imaging process.
