U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, calling it a “very sad situation” and saying people “can’t walk in with guns.”
Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse and licensed gun owner, was shot and killed by federal agents during an immigration operation. Video from the scene showed Pretti holding a phone while being restrained, with a firearm later removed from his waistband.
Trump said he loved “everybody” and expressed sympathy for Pretti’s family, while defending the investigation and denying that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem would step down. The White House has sent border czar Tom Homan to oversee the situation as national outrage continues to grow.
