Smiles and even giggles could be heard in pediatrics at The University of Kansas Hospital as Jet Williams, a guard with The Original Harlem Globetrotters, paid a visit to hospitalized children.
"I love how their eyes light up when I spin the ball on their finger," Williams said.
A little fun helps to elevate the mood for everyone from staff to parents and most importantly the patient according to Sarah Hoehn, MD, medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit.
"Happier patients don't need as much sedation and tolerate ventilators better," explain Dr. Hoehn. "We love have special visitors like Jet to brighten the time for even our sickest patients."
Jet Williams is in town for appearances with The Original Harlem Globetrotters at the Sprint Center on January 25th.
