Searching for the Tibetan Terrier Story

More than a decade ago, when I was filming a documentary about Tibetan mastiffs in Tibet, I saw a very beautiful Tibetan mastiff.

I still remember the scene at that time. Its owner rode a yak and followed behind, and this black and white Tibetan mastiff ran in front with its head held high. It was the season of May, and the flowers were blooming on the grassland. This happy Tibetan mastiff was like running on a colorful carpet.

Later, I wanted to raise this kind of dog many times, but because I have procrastination, this wish was delayed for more than ten years.

Until a few years ago, a Tibetan friend of mine also mentioned this wish to me, and of course we hit it off.

However, when I arrived in Tibet, I suddenly found that Tibetan mastiffs had become very rare. This is because of the spread of echinococcosis in the past and the extensive control of stray dogs in Tibet, so the number of this dog has also decreased sharply. Moreover, many even remote Tibetan areas have now become towns. The streets of these newly built cities are spacious and clean, and there seem to be fewer people raising dogs than before.

In the past two years, I asked many friends I met in Tibet to help me find this beautiful Tibetan Terrier. I have also been to Tibet many times with Tibetan friends. Perhaps our sincerity moved God. After two attempts, I finally found three Tibetan Terriers that I think are pretty good. This can be regarded as the basic population for the two-year breeding plan.
