Year in the Life of Sika, Part 3 - shooting injured deer in the dark

In this episode of our series A Year in the Life of Sika, Niall Rowantree is looking after clients and trying to keep the sika deer off a restocked forestry plantation. Unlike recreational stalkers, Niall has a licence to shoot at night – and when it comes to the canny sika he needs that ability in his toolbox. It is not easy, and you need the right kit and strategy or it can be dangerous for you and your stalking team: Niall explains what is involved. When we get up close to a sika stag we realise it must have been hit by a car, but incredibly it has survived its injuries.
