Equipped for Unconditional Love: Queer Eye’s Tammye and Myles Hicks

Join Tammye Hicks and Myles Hicks as they share their story of unconditional love and acceptance at The Reformation Project's 2018 national conference. As a Christian wife, mother, teacher, community advocate, and church leader, Tammye has spent the last thirty-one years of her life serving as a teacher (mother) to thousands of children who are considered by society as "at-risk." She lives a lifestyle of, "I am not on this planet for myself, but for the betterment of humanity." Her strong Christian faith has helped her overcome many obstacles in life including the challenges of single parenthood and breast cancer.

Her faith and her own struggle with acceptance of her son who is gay has also led her to become a change agent for the faith community to reflect the teachings of Christ in practice. Tammye has a goal of being a life-long learner. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Behavioral Science, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. God has made provisions for her to share her message of unconditional love by being chosen as a hero on the Netflix series "Queer Eye." Tammye currently spends time interacting with fans around the world affirming God's love.

Myles Hicks was born with a heart to serve. After coming out as gay at the age of 14 and continuing throughout the years to come, he became an ambassador of service as he branched out by participating in various leadership and community service organizations, including C5 Youth Foundation of Georgia, Habitat for Humanity, and Books for Africa. As life progressed, Myles began dedicating his summers by guiding at-risk youth in the Metro Atlanta area while also dedicating the rest of his time serving as a mentor to LGBT youth of rural Georgia to help get them into college. Yet through all of that, Myles still yearned for personal growth and acceptance. Transitioning into adulthood, he put himself first by seeking the assistance of Queer Eye’s Fab Five to help him in realizing his full potential, unapologetically be himself and act as a beacon of light for those in dark places.
