Chor Machaye Shor is a 1974 Bollywood action-drama featuring Shashi Kapoor and Mumtaz in a heartfelt story of love, injustice, friendship, and redemption. Directed by Ashok Roy and produced by N. N. Sippy, this superhit film became one of the biggest box-office successes of 1974.
The story follows Vijay Sharma (Shashi Kapoor), a sincere engineer deeply in love with Rekha (Mumtaz). Their romance faces opposition from Rekha’s wealthy father, who wants her to marry into a powerful political family. When an influential politician (Madan Puri) conspires with Rekha’s father, Vijay is wrongfully framed and sent to prison.
In jail, Vijay befriends three fellow inmates, and together they escape to uncover the truth and fight back against corruption. Reunited with Rekha, the group sets out to protect the peaceful village of Shantinagar, which is being threatened by corrupt forces and criminal elements. Their courage leads to justice being restored, the real villain’s arrest, and Rekha’s father finally accepting Vijay.
Filled with action, emotion, dynamic performances, and the iconic song “Le Jayenge Le Jayenge”, the film remains a beloved Bollywood classic.
