On this Women's Day, we honour the legacy of the 20,000 brave women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956 in protest against the oppressive pass laws of apartheid.
Their courage paved the way for the freedoms we now hold. But today, nearly 70 years later, South African women are still marching-this time, for safety, for dignity, for justice.
On this Women's Day, we pause not just to reflect, but to ask: What is the value of Women's Day when women still live in fear? How much longer must women endure violence, fear, and silence?
