In this episode, I take on what becomes the final off-road ride of my entire journey across South America—and it turns into one of the most demanding trail experiences of the whole trip. As I get closer to Rio de Janeiro, most of the off-road routes I had planned are either closed or completely impassable, but I eventually find a side excursion along the Estrada Real that looks promising.
What I didn’t expect was for it to be the most brutal, technical, and rutted trail I’ve faced since entering Brazil. Deep trenches, steep climbs, and washed-out sections push both me and the bike to the limit. At one point I fall so awkwardly that my motorcycle ends up in a ridiculous position, leaving me staring at it thinking: How did I end up like this… and how do I get out?
This final off-road push was supposed to be simple. It became anything but.
