The problem that we solve in this video is:
A gas is contained within a piston-cylinder assembly. The assembly undergoes a series of three processes which are as follows:
Process 1 to 2: The gas undergoes a constant volume process. The state 1 pressure and volume are P1 = 1 bar and V1 = 4 m^3, respectively. The pressure, through this process, is increased to a pressure of P2 = 2 bar.
Process 2 to 3: The gas undergoes a compression process. The volume is decreased to a volume of V3 = 2 m^3. Throughout the compression process, a pressure-volume relationship of PV = constant is abided by.
Process 3 to 4: The gas undergoes a constant pressure process. The volume at state 4 is decreased to V4 = 1 m^3.
In this problem, we want to determine the work for each process, in kJ. Afterwards, we want to draw the series of processes on a PV diagram.
