I actually think that this may be my favourite track I've uploaded yet, this was one of my first super super special one's, 10/10 from me. Real 80's diner/arcade vibes.
💡Idea: I got when thinking about Ye's 'can't tell me nothing'
The 'laaaa laa la la wait till I get my money right' but I had it messed up in my head and so I thought the one that I had the correct one and that the melody would sound cool as a synth lead, so I got to work and put it down. I liked how it sounded, so I experimented with different chords in another channel that also had a synth loaded up to it, as I knew it would sound cool, and I really wanted to test myself and make a full synth track (apart from the drums which I went with a classic boom tshh 80's happy catchy drum pattern) to see if I could do it only having been producing for a few months, anyways I took the can't tell me nothing melody in synth form and thought it was a cool way to intro the track and instantly give it movement, and I thought it'd be cool to use it as the outro too. I then pulled up a lead that I loved and was familiar with from Arturia's mini v which is the mini moog and played the track, completely freestyling the entire riff/melody, and quantised it and got it all in time after... however I didn't like it, it instantly dimmed the track and took away it's swing, it was robotic cuz it was so perfectly in time like everything else, so I ctrl+z'd it until I was back with the untampered version and left it at that as it added a more human, unpredictable and flawlessly flawed in and out of time main riff, and I loved it, also before this step though I used a sequence preset from the mini v I believe which was a super fast synth pluck to just build tension and give you the feel of something coming. I had a guitar sample laying around that I'd found from somewhere, I think I'd downloaded it when looking for samples for another track, but didn't end up using it, however it fit in this track perfectly as a beat switch to grab your attention back and switch the atmosphere and feel of the song, I did add a lot of effects to this sample and it does sound extremely different to the original sample, however still distinguishable that it is the same sample if played after one another. I originally had the same chords as you hear in the first section of the song come back in after the guitar but it killed the vibe and didn't bring back the energy back into the synth world, you'd heard it before, it was just a repeat, so over the next few days I was waiting on some ideas to hit me, and they did, I'm pretty sure I took inspiration from the synth chords in Kanye's Power for the pattern that comes in after the guitar, I can't remember directly cuz my memory is terrible with some things.
🎆Please like, sub and turn notis on if you like the beats and would love to come along on the journey and check out more tracks!🎆
