This idea that you’re going to build equity via a starter home, move out after a couple of years to upgrade to a more expensive home, and make a sizable profit? Yeah, that doesn’t really pass the vibe check historically. Here's why the "starter home" has always been a sort of marketing propaganda, and why you can feel good about not rushing into a home purchase until the time (and cost) is right for you.
